This looks like almost everything I want in a smartphone:

A high-end processor and a large battery, without unnecessary "features" like a glass body or a QHD display. The only thing that would stop me from buying this is MIUI - if it came in an Android One version, it would absolutely be my next smartphone.

Is it likely that the Pocophone brand will come to South Africa?

There are local online stores selling it, but at about R2000 more expensive. I would say that I am a fan of stock Android. But I went for this phone anyway, and honestly MIUI is actually a really nice interface. I find it doesn't get in the way, and I've become quite fond of its differences to stock. With customs and shipping insurance the total was about R5020 from Gearbest.
