As of today, I have logged 8506 hours behind a microphone presenting radio programs and podcasts. It’s strange to think that just more than 354 full days of my life have passed speaking into thin air! Strangely enough, everyone assumes that DJ’s [or podcasters] go to the studio with a few ideas in their heads and then just open the mic and talk…well maybe some of the campus jocks?!! For me though, to keep in the game takes one thing – research.
In the course of the week, preparation for the 10-15 minute podcast means working through around 1500 to 1700 articles. [Yes, I did do a speed reading course]. Out of those articles the more interesting or weird news is put aside while keeping an eye out for what makes it to the MyBroadband pages before the podcast goes online. Then, from what’s left, only 3 or 4 articles make it into the podcast.
I say all of that to say this: I finally have a use for all the articles that get put aside…this blog right here. Over the next few weeks, instead of throwing away all the unused fascinating bits, I get to share them with you. So a big thanks to RPM and the crew, and watch this space.
