Hi All

I am looking for recommendations on a basic modern IP camera that is not tied to some cloud service or proprietary NVR. I don't want/need them to be Wi-Fi, as I want cable reliability and already have a POE switch. Use case is home security. I have some Yi Home Wi-Fi camera's that are all starting to die now. I am planning to swap them to hacked the firmware that supports RTSP.

Planning to set up homeassistant or AgentDVR to act as an NVR and to handle notifications etc. I have an existing mini server for that.

Looking at some decently reviewed R550 options on Temu (indoor and Outdoor, but just considering if there is a locally available brand at R800-R900 that will do a decent job.

Will need about 6-7 cameras total.

Which model reolink and are they IP and POE?

I’ve been using the older RLC-410s for almost 4 years now with no issues. IP and POE. Looking to add a couple more of the newer 800 series or even the dual lens ones

With cheap IP cameras, aren't you worried about somebody hacking your network and discovering the feeds, and having full access to watch you everywhere? Or how do you secure the feeds?

I've opted instead for a Eufy solar camera for my backyard and a Eufy doorbell and Home Base system (which stores video on-site and can still be remotely accessed via the Eufy app). It feels like it should be a bit more secure (hopefully).

My cameras are not exposed to the Internet. They are on a separate VLAN that’s firewalled off from everything else except the machine that houses the NVR software

I have 4 EZIVIZ connected via lan cable
Working fine via their app

I am fairly competent at setting up the networks security side of things. The camera's are going on their own Vlan and separate WiFi.

Then remote access would be strictly VPN based. The Camera's wont even have access to the internet unless I open it for them.

Its why I don't want cloud service camera's at all.
