Hi

Is there any other, preferably cheaper poe switches that handle both passive AND active poe?

Does this handle passive POE as well?

Can't pick any specific reference to that?
It senses if the line needs power or not and supply's power if needed .
I have been running one 8 and two 4s for a while and they do the job .

Scoop's SPS-8G2G is a 10 port switch with 8x 10/100/1000Mbps 802.3af/at PoE ports and 2x 10/100/1000Mbps ethernet uplink ports.

Each of the PoE ports is IEE803.3af/at compliant which enables them to auto-detect and identify whether the connected device is compatible and requires power. Total maximum PoE budget is 96W and the maximum budget per port is 36W.

The SPS-8G2G supports 4 working modes:
VLAN (Port Isolation): Enables Port Isolation on Port 1-8.
AI Extend Mode: Transmission distance of ports 1-8 can be increased to up to 250 meters at 10Mbps using Cat6 solid copper cable.
AI PoE: Automatically restarts a PoE powered device if no data passes through the port for a set time.
AI QOS: Priorities network bandwidth based on network usage history & analytics."

Do you have passive POE devices plugged into your active poe switch?

I'm pretty sure I had one connected to a Tenda poe switch. But might be wrong.

states:

They can be used on all devices which are compatible with the PoE standards but don't support passive low voltage devices.

Scoop PoE Switches

Scoop switches are priced for the entry-level market. Several models are available with a varying number of ports in both Gigabit and Fast Ethernet options. They support the 802.3af/at standard on all ports (excluding the uplink ports). They can be used on all devices which are compatible with the PoE standards but don't support passive low voltage devices. It is also important not to let the power requirements of your devices exceed the total PoE budget of the switch when planning your installation. All models support Artificial intelligence features via dip switch and include, AI VLAN, AI QoS, AI PoE and AI Extend.
