I want to develop a web based solution for my business. i.e. host data on web
However I also need a fast point of sale in my shop.
So I am thinking along the lines of syncing data from the web to a pc on which the point of sale software resides (whenever wed data changes - new product, change in selling price etc) and then uploading the sales to the web on a daily basis.

Can anyone recommend a solution that may already exist?

Thanks in advance

Im busy developing one for my father in law's butchery. It all depends on how easy it is to setup your POS so that it can take these changes and update iteself automatically.

Thanks
Can you share your thoughts?
I need to develop everything from scratch- even the POS which will be Windows based

Im entertaining the idea of developing a web based POS system to solve stupid schit like this, but that brings other problems...
Anyways, the old man just wants his pricing to be updateable automatically or with one click, so Im building a simpler once screener where he can view all his products, update pricing and then sync (dump to csv) to the POS system.Havnt seen the POS system yet, but the main challenge is to try interface and send through the csv file so that it can up uploaded into the till.

Any reason why you want to develop rather than use the zillions already out there?

lol, posted too soon.

I like it because it's simple and did what I wanted it to do. There were many many options out there but they were either over complicated or too simple.

This one worked for what I needed and being open source, I could fiddle. (I've already contributed accepting rands as a currency ;) )

I have seen YOCO used locally. Seemed to work well incl CC payments

We use Poco. It's great as a simple POS, but it doesn't handle stock, nor does it allow for discounts. I'm looking for a POS that will integrate with PrestaShop myself. Looked at RockPOS and considering EquatePOS.
