Hi,

I need to get a Police Clearance for my Mini. I know that the car is still on the system, and has not been reported stolen. I also have the original Registration paper (Last licensed in 1991), and I also know that the car has been de-registered on the Natis system.

Does anyone, with experience, know how long the actual Police Clearance procedure will take?

Thanks.

Hi,

First go to your local Municipal office. There you will get a RPC form that they will complete for you.
You will need the old registration papers for this.
If the car does not have a valid licence, please make sure you also get a 3 day permit for it, otherwise the police might keep the car with them.
Then go for police clearance. It should be quick depending on how busy the place is. Not more than 30 minutes.

After that, you will need to get the car weighed again. While at the testing station, just ask them for a Roadworthy check list.
Good Luck!

If all of that is done, you can go back to the Municipal office and do a new licence application.
Now you can go for roadworthy. Luckly if you do not pass the first time, they normally allow 3 days to return for the test again for free.
Once that is done, you can go back to the Municipal office to apply for the new licence. This can sometimes take a while and not really sure why.

P.S> Always have your ID book available!

Thanks.

I am assuming I also need a Affidavit as I do not have the original owners ID, therefore no transfer of ownership paper or any other papers other than the Registration Certificate.

If so, do you know what I need to state on the Affidavit?

Yes, you will need the affidavit. Just state in it that you bought the car way back when and lost the owners details. Also state that the original owner is not contactable anymore.
At least you still have the original registration paper.
If that was missing it would have been very bad.....

P.S. Nice work btw!
