Minutes later an Atteridgeville police station member contacted him. Asked for the vehicle’s registration, Pimentel explained that they were cycling. The officer demanded to be given the bicycle’s registration number.

Opening a case of what he thought was armed robbery, Pimentel later learnt it had been changed to a common robbery case.

Bwwaaaaa haaaaaa!!! Yet another case of sheer incompetence.

Take a drive though some of our neighbouring countries and you'll notice plenty people who can't even afford to put a chicken on the table riding around on 40 & 50k bicycles.
The cops in SA don't give a toss about this type of crime and there's very little you can do except arm yourself if you have the balls for gun fight on your weekend ride.
:(

Sometimes I think these people of authority or people who think they are in a position of authority get belligerent just for the sake of riding the next wave on that power trip of theirs. They can't be that stupid, surely?

Either that or the next field in the plod's (incorrectly) chosen form requires a reg. number and so the process cannot advance until one is provided. I mean it had wheels and it drove on the road so therefore it must have a registration number!
