Police offer R350k reward for missing constables

Police are really going after anyone who posts about this case on social media


“We call for responsible social reporting,” SAPS national spokesperson Brig. Athlenda Mathe said on Thursday during a media briefing at the Hennops River in Centurion.

“We picked up a case on social media where an individual in Cape Town claims he saw this particular vehicle in the river.”

Her remarks came shortly before police recovered the white VW Polo from the river.

Inside the vehicle, authorities found a white handbag, an identity document, a vehicle service book and a set of keys.

“We have registered a case of defeating the ends of justice. We are searching for this particular person because he is misleading the investigations,” Mathe said.

“We are calling on South Africans to really use social media responsibly, and to report on facts.”

It’s dangerous in any car doing 120 in heavy rain. I saw a bm do that in front of me one day in heavy rain, my Quattro didn’t feel a thing.
 
Saw three funeral parlor vans with lot of police cars at the kroonvaal toll plaza going south. Was wondering if it was them.

a friend of mine once had an a4 quattro - i seem to recall it having a 3l motor.

i used it over the period of about 3 days driving between bantry bay & hout bay.
it was winter, either wet road or raining - the road is curves and bends the entire way.
the motor in the car begged for pushing.
despite my excessive speeds, that car stuck to the road like a pencil in winnie mandela's hair

Yip, that sounds like Quattro tech!
 
I cannot be arsed to read all of this thread, but I hope one of the take-aways in the case is that something has to be done about the Hennops - if a car can just disappear into a relatively minor stream like this, perhaps it is time to realise that we cannot dump all of our available car tires, polystyrene, excrement and other garbage into it all the time. I feel sorry for whomever was involved in recovering the bodies and vehicle...

180 000 cars travel that section daily yet the reason is given speeding? Weird. Anyway you would think just 1 of the 3 members of the police would object to them breaking the law by speeding that fast especially if it was raining. But No. Shows the lack of discipline in the police service. Also no mention of toxicology reports yet to determine if they were drunk.

It’s also unclear how the body of an admin clerk attached to the Lyttelton police station was found during the same search.

What are the odds they find another person working for the police in the river at the same time?
They are like "Oh By the way we found another police employee but that is unrelated"
