Police reveal plot to attack Zille

Cape Town mayor Helen Zille was forced to cancel an official visit to Khayelitsha on Friday evening to open a new restaurant after police warned her that striking security guards were planning to attack her.

"They are going to wait for you, attack you and harm you," was the chilling warning Zille received in a telephone call late on Thursday night.

The call, from a high-ranking police official, warned her to cancel the visit because of "confirmed intelligence" about a plot to attack her.
