Hi

I am having a problem with my 2003 1.8i Polo classic fuel gauge . It is not registering anything and i am driving around blind as i do not know how much petrol is left in the tank . Can somebody assist ?

Sounds as if your sender wire has come undone. Check the connection, should be under the back seat, where there is a black plate, that you will have to unscrew to get to the sender unit. Check those wires first. Otherwise, fill up, zero your odo and don't drive more than 400 k's without filling up again :D

Required steps to fix broken gauge:

1. Turn steering wheel so that you can see the gauge through the open space in the top part.
2. Take right hand and make it into a ball.
3. Pull your arm backwards so that your hand is next to your right ear.
4. Move your hand forward as fast as you can navigating though the space in the steering wheel. Remember to aim for you hand to stop about 5cm past the fuel gauge.
5. Call your insurance broker and tell them a pigeon hit the gage/you hit the pigeon
