Advertised in the Sunday Times today, available November!

Finally VWSA is starting to figure out what the South African public wants.

Wonder how efficient it will be with SA having bad quality diesel and all. Also wonder about it reliability because of the aforementioned diesel problem, luckily VW SA has had lots of experience with diesels. I'm generally cautious of diesel engines in SA (especially direct injected, more so if it is combined with a turbo charger).

omg, this is great news. Wonder if it'll include all the fuel saving features that are found on the euro-spec Polos.

Same 3-cyl diesel and the the European one? Could work for extreme budget folks. I think they had one in a Top Gear episode last year. Looks crap but does pretty good on fuel economy.

It does amazingly on fuel economy. We're talking under 4l/100km here.

Yeah, that's about the only thing it does well - beat hybrids. But even as VAG hater I have to admit its a pretty good car. Would be great if VWSA actually starts selling them here. Perhaps it will push GM to bring the 1.3 CDTI Corsa back to again.

1.3 CDTI ecoFLEX, 70 kW (95 PS) Start/Stop System 3.6l/100km : http://www.opel.de/shop/cars/corsa/product/engine/content.act?engine=LSF&
1.2 Bluemotion, 55kW (75 PS) Start/Stop System 3.3l/100km : http://www.volkswagen.de/vwcms/mast...len___fakten/technische_daten.detail.1.1.html

Woah that Opel's figures are actually even more impressive, given the much higher power output.

Yeah, its a shame that we have so little choice here in SA. Looking at the German sites for VW and Opel you see they have so much choice at much lower prices! The Bluemotion 1.2 is not too bad for a 3-cyl but if you look at ecoFLEX 1.3 4-cyl you get a lot more power and the 0.3 l/100km increase in consumption is not worth it. Although the Polo Bluemotion has different body panels to make it more aerodynamic (and more ugly) so perhaps in real life it will be even more efficient in the long run. I really hope we get these here soon!
