Hi There

I own a Polo Gti 1.4 Tsi Spec 2013 Model

Noticed the car slipped into Limp Mode as the car was misfiring
Engine light started blinking and EPC light came on

Got it towed to VW ran a compression test advise that car losing compression in 2 3 and require a strip to further diagnose the car ofcorse with w 9k cost

What would be the best option here to get this resolved

I've read on couple motoring sites a few issues like spark plug threads or coils could could be problem

How long have you had the car? How many kilos has the car done?

So there's good news and bad news. Bad news could be piston 3 go boom which is 10s of thousands. I had my piston 3 replaced. Good news is. When I took delivery of my car, same issue. So it wasn't the damn piston! Was coils or something far simpler.

Well that's my assumption because the issue was not gone at all and they wasted vw warranty money. My suggestion, since it's out of warranty, chat to any specialist that could diagnose better than those part installers do at dealerships first. And good luck!
 
2013, sound like a CTHE motor. I had CAVE which was their second edition. Yours third, where things were improved.

It's a fairly new car to have engine issues, my guess is that it's electrical. If you are not going to try fixing it yourself then the best thing would be to take it somewhere for a second and third opinion, choosing the least expensive path and shelling out the big bucks.

Scanners are cheap nowadays, I would advise anyone who owns a car out of warranty to get one.

Unfortunately that engine was notoriously unreliable. So much so that VW changed engines from the 1.4 twincharged to the 1.8 Turbo. I really hope its just coils, plugs or something, but there is a very big chance its a serious engine issue :(
 
Had a similar issue in mine and it was coil pack.

Hope it isn't the engine, how much oil has it been using, that'll probably give you a good indication of what may be the cause.
 
CTHE Spec ...Thanks Guys for the assistance, I feel as if they just tryna knock me around for unnecessary cash

First time user, by was advised the ppl on these forums have the best advise due to them experiencing issues with there vehicles

Would Dekra be a better option for diagnoses?

A pine in two weeks ..I hardly use the car ...as I have a company vehicle

So 500ml a tank? VW will tell you it is normal, I call BS, it may be a tell tale sign of the ever common piston landing ring failure issue.

good question. I think VW made an assumption, replaced piston 3 for nothing. motorplan so the cost was to vw.

I topped up 500ml every 3 tanks... still ridiculous. They will tell you its normal. they defiantely chow oil, but one 500ml per tank is alot.
