Polo MADNESS!!!!!

SHUCKS !!! For such a small car

i bought a golf 7 highline with an R line packge for 390K a month ago. And it included the lights, leather, sunroof and 18" Rims

Price is heavy as most new cars are nowadays. However this price is pretty much on par with all it's competitors. Opel Corsa OPC starts at 295k (when the new one hits our shores will probably be around R330k) , Peugeot 208 GTI starts at R310k, Renault Clio RS R310k (R340k for the Cup version). Fiesta ST is the best priced in this segment though. Don't know how these car prices keep rising at such an astronomical rate :wtf:

Because people keep buying them in droves but I really don't know how. :wtf:
R300K over 60 months at 11% interest is R6522 per month.
That's probably around R8000 to R9000 of someone's salary before tax and doesn't even include insurance, fuel, wear and tear items, etc.

You just need to make more money, then it's easy :)

That is insane money. I hate the R1850 that my last car costs me every month, gonna settle it this month.

It's a self-perpetuating cycle. Saffers are a car-mad lot, and most people want the nicest car they can afford to finance. Majority of people buy with combinations of comparatively substantial deposits and balloon payments, bringing the instalments into reasonable territory but with the effect that few people get to the point of actually owning their cars. Given that, it's vital for many to buy cars that maintain decent value; one of the reasons why VWs sell as well as they do.

That said, most South Africans have a car company feeding off their salary for life. This is how they sucker you into being a "loyal" [-]customer[/-] source of income. Personally I can't think of a stupider way to burn money, cars are depreciating assets.

After 10 years of use and 260,000km of use I got R30k back on a car that was sold to me for R100k. That is excluding interest paid on finance, running and repairs costs, which will be way more than the R70k depreciation anyway.
