I want to put some 6x9's in my Polo, is it possible to just install two and wire it to the stock amp that came with the car?

If you dont like the light bulbs in your house, can you just throw them out and put better ones in?

If the cars radio supports 4x50 mosfets channel then yes... it should not be a problem.

Just check to see weather your radio supports it otherwise you must use an extra amp. 350w - 550w or so.

Where can I check that?

well, either in your car radio's manual... or it should stand on the radio itself..
But I think Volkswagen rather listed it on the manual..

If not, phone Volkswagen and just ask them if the radios support these functions

I knew because I have a pioneer radio installed in my car. I ran extra higher wattage speakers only threw my radio before.. but later I got a 1500w(Calibra amp) for the rest of the speakers and split systems...

K from the manual I found out that it's the VW Beta Radio system and there is a 6 CD changer. There's nothing about mosfet in the manual but it does say this:

2x20 watt (max)
2x17 watt (DIN measurement at 4 Ohm)

Does that help?

There's no crossover, they are just running in parallel with the door speakers.
My best bet would be to take the car to an audio dealer and let them install an extra 550w or 1500w depending on how much you want to spend... then later on you can just up your other midrange speakers they are most likely between 8" and 10".

By the looks of the Specs on your manual I'd say it won't support the 6x9's due to the low wattages (I could be wrong but hey).

Btw - what is the watts on your 6x9? 240 or 260? etc

I haven't got 6x9's yet. I'm going to an audio shop tomorrow... I will ask them.

I would ignore most of the advice in this thread.

Mosfet is a type of amplifier technology and is totally irrelevant to whether you can run some 6x9s.

My question is why you want 6x9s in the first place. It would not give you better quality sound at all.

To get any better sound than the stock installation would require more than just some 6x9s. Speaking to a good installer is good idea.

I would visit Speednsound forums. You would get much better recommendations on there.

The stock sound is good, I just want a bit more bass, and I have heard 6x9's in a car before they sound nice. I want to crank up the volume...

Ok so I spoke to some people at an audio shop and they said the polo stock speakers sound good, and they will sound better if I amplify them...?

They recommended a 5channel amplifier in case later I wanted a subwoofer.
Should I go for this or would a 4channel amp be adequate?

Also, I am thinking of instead (budget constraint) going for this JVC double din frontloader so I can play MP3 and USB and iPod...

What would your recommendation be?

Not sure what model Polo you have but my stock sound is VERY good.
The tweeters and mids are perfect(for me).

Just need a sub and amp!
For the head unit, JVCs good.

It's a 2004 model and the sound does sound good.

I got the GT430U recently, quite happy with this.

Nice that you guys have the 6x9 standard size speakers, my Polo Playa has 4 inch rear speakers(I think), went to game and hificorp, none stock these. And not sure if those 4x6 ones on Autostyle are the correct one.

Cool I reckon I'm gonna go for that first and then maybe a bit later buy some splits for the front... Anyone know where I can get Hertz Splits?
