Polygraph testing only one employee

Because the ANC doesn't consider crime a fireable offense.

They only do something if you commit the crime of getting caught and convicted. And even then, only sometimes.

Many years ago a laptop went missing from the company I worked for , some of us were tested and I failed miserably. I was suspended and my manager at the time was on leave. When he returned he called me back in and insisted that I be reinstated. Was probably one of the worst times of my life.

Fast forward to 2011 I discover that I have OCD which leads to extreme anxiety. Few session with docs and 3 weeks in a clinic I discover from my psychologist that I should never take a polygraph test as I will fail it 10/10 times ! FINALLY it made sense , I called up my old manager and thank him again and explained to him about my anxiety. I also asked him how he was sure that I was innocent and he said that he trusted me and his instincts but also interesting was that I got everything wrong in the test including saying my name and the date which they neglected to tell me at the time !!

So jaa I am totally anti and I do know that no one can force you to take a polygraph !

Have you still got the laptop?

Thanks for sharing this - one of the big problems that many youngsters face is not knowing their rights and you will always get these wankers that force these things on them. My only hope is that others walk away from this experience knowing their rights. Still, wonder why the OP is quiet. Perhaps sub-judice or something.

I wonder if it turned out that she really was guilty. OP?

The OP has been active on this forum, but yet for 2 weeks hasn't bothered to make any further comments or answer any people who offered words of support. I'm probably overstepping the mark but that is odd to me.

Hey, we're just trying to forget about the whole thing. She will appear in court on 23rd. The attorney tried to get her salary but said its going to cost us more and is not worth it and that she must rather go to the CCMA.
She was very lucky and started a new job last week, so at least she will be earning some money at the end of the month.
She is just so over this whole schlep, she needs to take time off from work if she wants to go to the CCMA.
What does she tell her new boss?

So we just left the salary thing for now, and we are awaiting the next court date.
I'll update this thread after court date.

Thanks for the update, and congratz to her on getting a new job so quick!

So what are the developments on the situation? Do they suspect any other people?

So... Any updates?

Been reading this thread and am very curious to see how this whole thing turns out.

Update : She appeared in court yesterday, case has been postponed till end of next month. The state is still waiting evidence: the video footage from the car place next door and for the eyewitness?
If they can't provide evidence on the next court date the case is going to be thrown out.

So if the case get thrown out due to lack of evidence, can she take her ex-employer to court?

I'll assume her ex-employer will say (with a quivering lip) "But we do have polygraph evidence!"...
