Japan's leading toilet manufacturer has really pushed the float out with its promotional activities, creating a poo-powered motorcycle with its own built-in lav-look seat.

The Toilet Bike Neo runs on biofuels such as compressed livestock waste and household wastewater, so while the design looks like a portaloo on wheels, it doesn't actually function as a khazi.

This reminds me of a toilet Buckminster Fuller invented in the 60's - a 'packaging toilet'.
I always thought it was a great idea.
Basically the toilet automatically and quickly seals excrement in plastic bags (vacuum packed).
A collection service picks up the bags once a week and takes it to the local methane factory where it is converted to gas and electricity.
It can also be used in fertilizers and compost manufacture.
Advantages of this system:
a) It's waterless - no more flushing clean drinking water into the sewer
b) It's sanitary - no more air born disease carrying microbes, usually released when flushing a toilet.
c) No more pipes, septic tanks or water treatment plants (makes it easy to expand the system to support a growing population)
d) Electricity from your crap... need I say more?
