Poofball rewards cheating

Yep, the rules of football are archaic and as long as the codgers stay in charge, it will stay that way. What happened to Ghana tonight with the Suarez handball would simply have been given as a "penalty try" in rugby - klaar, end of story - instead, in football, a blatant infringement that prevents a goal is "rewarded" with a 50/50 chance to get the goal that you have just been cheated out of.

I hope the Orange 11 beat the **** out them. At least we won't have to see bitch suarez playing and falling to the ground in pretend agony every 2 min. A great injustice has been done to Ghana tonight.

Suarez did the profesional thing. Not his fault gyan fluffed his lines. He takes care of business people don't even mention this. Suarez took the 5% he had of keeping his side in the comp.

Your location says: SA for now. We all know you bought a ticket to Uruguay. May I drive you to the airport?? :D

Asamoah "Zoolander" Gyan should have placed his penalty kick into the bottom corner, then if the keeper picked the right way, he could get onto the rebound..But noooooooooooo..He wants to rifle it into the roof of the net, then do a gay dance (where he frowns alot).

What Saurez did was objectively wrong, but not subjectively wrong. You cannot truly say that you would not have done the same thing???

It wasn't even objectively wrong, because even objectively it's a sacrifice which Uruguay would DEPEND on. Besides, he got his punishment, and they got their prime chance out of it - he sobbed about it on his walk away because he even thought his efforts would be seen by his country as the reason for their loss - nobody would want to concede a winning penalty in the last minute of added extra time. All the clowns who say it's nonsense that this was allowed, simply don't understand the logic of this sport. He got ultimate punishment, gave the opponents a great chance, and against all odds they failed - so at the end of the day his move can be seen as the most professional thing he could have done to keep his team alive in the tournament. It's brilliant

+1 - The best summing up of the incident I have seen/heard since it happened.

Same here. Any pro would have done it. It's what they are paid to do and maybe if some of the "world stars" were as committed at Suarez, then teams like Portugal, England and Brazil would still be here.

Gyan messed up by going for the "glory" top corner penalty and paid the price.

Tough. That's soccer.

A Ghanian player would have done the same.

MAkes sense, also it looked like Gyan tried to smash the shot which he usually does around the middle of the penalty box.

Cheating: Deliberately using underhanded or disallowed methods or tactics in a game or contest to alter the outcome of the game or contest.

Suarez is a cheat. He is on the Uruguayan team, therefore they are all cheats. End of Story.

I'm looking forward to forlan playing again.
Credit to Uruguay for giving it their all

They are going out next match. Their cheating will come back to haunt them and they will lose.

Suarez is NOT a cheat. He broke the rules and he paid for it. The same with any other bad tackle where a free kick or penalty is awarded. This is a game - you break the rules - you pay for it. End of story. Cheating is if you take drugs or influence/bribe the referee.

The problem is not Suarez, the problem is having a rule that, via illegal play, can convert a certain goal into an uncertain one. The rule book should not allow one side to profit by their infringement of the rules. They need to award goals in these instances. Simple as that. Remove the incentive to cheat.
