I have the same problem - but unfortunately no solution.

I just brush the dirty spot and hope it lands where the Creepy sucks.

Yup, as Sinbad just said, and if that doesnt work you get a rotating thingy you add between 2 hoses so that hoses dont get tangled or knotted. Foget what they're called now

The rule I always follow is the length from the weir to the furtherest point plus one length.

Had the same **** with my pool. Tried lots of things. Eventually gave up and just bought an MX8 Pool Cleaner from Game on special. Problem solved.
