So I had a guy come around to show me a pool ioniser. Uses 2 dioads that go into the pool basket and apparently cuts down the chlorine needed as well as the time the pump needs to be on. Comes with a 3 month money back guarantee.

Anyone have one or know anything about them?

Is this a salt water chlorinator? If so, have had one for 22 years. Water is very slightly salty, electrodes seem to last about 10 years, better if you clean them. A fraction of the price of granular chlorine

Nope not a salt chlorinator. It apparently just iodises the water. You still use chlorine just not as much.

Not snake oil but well-established technology. On phone now but will later post links. Bing can find more info, as can Yahoo! You can also use Google if you're into older tech.

They need love, cleaning every 2 weeks, swop terminals around, replacing them 4 times a year.
Did not save that much on hth.

Ok. This guy told me you only need to replace the terminals every year to 18 months. How long ago did you have yours?

maybe it last a bit longer, but not 18 months. also twice I forgot to look and the terminals were completely eaten and water started to come out of the holes.
Mine is lying somewhere. Its just a 12v transformer and 2 banana plugs with a copper and silver probe.

Meh ok, doesn't sound like its worth the R2000.

Bumping this thread, I wan't to hear from any other people that have know how on this solution please.
