Hi Guys,

I need to save up to resurface my pool. A good few spots around the top rim where the blue paint has come away. A few smaller areas around the bottom.

Pool is 4m x 3m and at the deepest part aboit 1.2m so not big at all.

Anybody who resurfaced recently who might share approximate costing so I can put aside some cash?

I am worried about having to drain and refill the pool....any options in this regard?

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

In the same boat so will be following this thread (CPT based), our pool is almost double the size :X3:.

Our pool was originally a gunite pool that was fiber lined, was done about 10-15 years ago so it's showing its age and due for a refresh.

RE: draining of the pool, I see there are water bladders that you can hire to store the water

My pool is roughly the same size. Did mine a few months ago. The relining was about R30k.

Edit: The guy that did mine brought his own bladder, there was an additional charge for it on the invoice. With Cape Town sliding scale it makes sense to save the water.

Ouch - that much hey - whats the size of your pool?
My is 5.7 x 2.5. Was a brick pool that was lined with fiberglass. I had to replace the skimmer box and suction pipe as well, also took the opportunity to fit a new LED light. Total fix came to R42k.

I had my house whole house painted a few years back, and it was not much more then that. LOL.

Seems about right. Mine came to about R30k for 9m x 3m. Just resurfacing and a new LED light, no other work...

Good thing i came to this thread, i knew i needed to save, but i didnt think that much. Well now i know.

Yeah people aren't kidding when they say pools are a money pit.

This year I had to choose between this and heating it, both are around R30k. Decided to go with this first and leave the heating for next year, because it's pointless having warm water if nobody is going to use it this summer because of the state it was in...

Mines was 38K for 9m x 6m at end of 2023, with a deep end thats like 2.2m deep. Also did the mosaic on the stairs again. Was cheaper than the 85K quote I got for fibreglassing from Pool Team at the time

2 years later. The workmanship has held up. Two spots on the floor which are now marked. The pool went green multiple times in the last year cos I was too lazy to maintain it.

I also want to redo my pool, but I want to do the pool and the paving around it, basically need someone to redo my entire backyard. Pool is 10*5.
I am in Cape town.
Want to do it March next year so that I can just refill the pool with rain water.

R30k. Yoh.
No joke when people say one literally throws money in the water, when it comes to a pool.

Careful with this. I was told that you'll want to refill as soon as the marbelite is dry. The problem with leaving it exposed to the sun for too long without water is that it might develop cracks and then you'll have to do it again.
Are u in Cape town ?.I would love some pool company recommendations
Sorry man, Jhb. Happy to refer my guy to anyone up here...
