Well, that all depends, dunnit? For starters, consider:I have poor Iburst Coverage and I would like to know if it would be worth getting it even though..????
Well, that all depends, dunnit? For starters, consider:
- is iBurst the best (value! - to YOU) coverage/connection you can get?
- how far away from tower(s) are you?
- what's the topography between you and there?
- if it all shows promise for a happy ending, are you willing to have an HGA (high gain antenna) put up?
- ...CAN you do that (no body corp. nonsense and all that)?
Yep, waiting for telskum will do that to you.Well the sanity I have lost as I have been waiting for ADSL for over 1 and half years to be installed.
*pffft* 3km is nothing: I've got a flat-panel being hopelessly overextended at around 15km (I think/suspect, gotta verify actual distance) and anyway, I'm putting up a 17dBi Yagi to really pull the signal in.The tower is about 3km away?? Can’t putt an antenna up...
I am much in a hole... The only other option is Vodacom 3G but that a bit pricey.
I've got a site in Modderfontein where the guy HATED iBurst because he had a craptastic test done/didn't have an HGA up. He changed his tune once I did the job right and now thinks it's great ..good enough that, even with ADSL *finally* (around 18months later) on site he's looking to push mail onto ADSL and browsing onto iBurst on the dual WAN router. The map says poor so do you think it would be worth it to get a test done???
Does the Desktop modem have networking??
Very much so, just remember to pay very close attention to getting your PPPoE script setup correctly ..and the thing to watch out for is the MTU: 1352 is your magic number.OK SO can you share it over a linux server on the network???
