Poor gaming performance - PSU?

In the Catalyst Control centre, what 3D settings do you use?

For anti-aliasing, using the Edge detect filter can cause a huge FPS hit. Adaptive anti-aliasing set to "quality" can also drag FPS right down.
Besides that though, your PC should never display even the slightest lag with COD4.

Maybe you have a bad program running in the background? Check the task manager and see if you have anything showing significant CPU usage.

Maybe your PC is underclocked somehow. One possibility is weird Power settings, it's unlikely but if it is the case:
Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options (you can type that as a file path in Win7 as a shortcut). Click "Change Plan settings" and restore defaults.

I doubt it will make a massive difference. I'd start by disabling AA/AF. Test. Then lower the visual effects to Medium if available. Test again. If it's still not smooth, lower the resolution to 1680x1050. BTW, HD is 1920x1080, so how are you getting 1980x1024?

Also, are you using the latest Catalyst drivers?

My bad, its 1920 x 1080.

I am running the latest drivers yeah, 10.11 I think it is.

I have left all my catalyst settings on default. They all set to "use applications settings"

I use the default settings in CCC.

I have checked my task manager and can't see anything significant.

I will check the power option, thanks.

Well, seeing as you played yesterday, you must have uninstalled that UltraMon as the culprit?

On a side note ......... you got pwned! :p
