Some industry watchers forecast that machines running Windows 8 will not be on sale until early 2013, by which time Apple Inc’s iPad will have almost three years’ head start.

And a lot of people are realising that they don't need anything more than an iPad for their day to day tasks. I think this is a bigger problem for M$ than the price of hard drives at the moment.

Laptop is still better value for money and a good laptop costs less than an iPAD.
With my own money I will take the laptop.
My company paid, so I took the IPad2 as I have my own laptop. IPad is very convenient for calendar, quick surfing & games. But as a developer it stops there for me. I need a proper computer (storage, processing power and bigger screen).

As a developer I would have thought you had a little bit more imagination and understood where the iPad fit in. It is not a laptop and it's not meant to replace your laptop.
