I moved to Afrihost last week thinking my frustration with my internet line will come to an end. Little did I know that it is going to increase tenfold.
Openserve did their part and installed very promptly. I even received the router from Afrihost in good time. All was well for one day and I was impressed. Then it started. Every day at around 2 or 3pm the service started becoming unusably slow. I spend hours on the phone troubleshooting the problem with a very helpful Afrihost technician with no positive result. He logged a call with Openserve who contacted me to test the line. On testing the line with an Openserv test account my line was still 50% slower than it should be for the download speed but was at a much more usable level. I switched back to my Afrihost credentials and again my speed drop to 2mbps.
I contacted support again who wanted to go through the same troubleshooting process that I went through on the day before. Afrihost is intent in blaming everyone and everything, from my hardware to Openserv instead fixing the issue on their side.
I was also, when the fibre line was working, trying to access my home network remotely. I was unable to do so and turned to the Mybroadband forum and saw a post from Afrihost that you can request to be removed from the gcnat as that can cause issued with remote access. The support team dismissed my request.
I am extremely disappointed in Afrihost and the lack of service.
