MWEB recently posted a video on their facebook page. The boast about having a 2GB mailbox limit, which is apparently the highest in the country. Now i'm wondering, whats the point in having a 2GB mailbox limit if you can only access the mailbox by POP3. Surely then it would make sense to have an IMAP access too?

I realize that you can choose to leave your message on the server, which I have done for my phone's mailbox. But thats not quite the same as IMAP now is it? With all the buzz around syncing your multiple devices (eg: Ubuntu One, Dropbox, Ovi etc) surely IMAP is a good idea.

Do any other providers use IMAP? Also, I know Gmail is awesome and everyone should have an account, my point is why market a product like MWEB email in this way if its not using its its full potential?

I use IMAP exclusively ... and have been for the last 5 years. Having the bigger mailbox is a must with IMAP. It's great when you don't have an exchange server and just need to sync your email across multiple devices (phone, desktop/laptop). You also have full access to all your mail via the internet. The other upside (or downside) is that you mail is stored offsite and if anything goes wrong with your machine, it is not affected, especially if you have a laptop. I have a large 2GB box (own server), and I find that with high use my mailbox is never above 600MB ... and I'm lazy to take stuff off my mailbox.
