You should see what Mercedes is charging for their Plastic offerings. At Least with Porsche you are paying for the real mccoy.

It’s about selling more cars to your existing clientele instead of giving the sales away to the competition.

And scoring a few new customers along the way.

Sort of, it started that way with the Cayenne, now it is about selling as many cars to the same customers, repeatedly, with promises they'll get on the list for something like a GT3 RS. The market has been flooded with 'cheaper' Porsches so I am not surprised sales are on the decline...
