Port 21 question/query/help/please

Howzit All

I am running Hamachi on my machine with IP address lets say 1.234.567.890
Obviously thats not the IP nor am I putting the correct up on here

I have a Dlink rangebooster router/4port/DSL thingy hehehe and set hopefully my port forwarding of port 21 to the Hamachi IP

Is this correct??

Is there anyhow I can see other than on the router where 21 is "pointing" to??

Im clearly trying to setup an FTP server

well if you go ftp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx in your browser and type in the ip address assigned to you by your isp (check your router) it should open your ftp site. unless you are with telkom most likely you will be natted and hense will not have a routeable address. in english it means that most likely unless you are with telkom other internet users will not be able to reach your ftp server

Portforwarding should point to the machine hosting the service.

If your PC's IP is 192.168.22.33, then you should, on your firewall (or router, or doohickey) forwards port 21 to 192.168.22.33

But the main issue is with the router itself - different routers use different setups to forward ports. You should check up on your documentation.

Failing that, pay a geek to come out and fix it for you
