Hi All,

Sorry if in the wrong place.

For the last 2 days I cannot send emails, I receive no problem but am unable to send. I went into Telnet and tried accessing my mailserver via port 25 and cannot connect. I then tried on port 26 and straight away it connects, however my server will not send through port 26 so I need it to work on port 25.

Now when I am at home there is no problem so I know it is not the server, I think it is my ISP, Afrihost, Last week they sent me an Abuse complaint saying that I may have malicious software on my system that is trying to send spam emails, we did scans etc but couldn't find anything. Is it possible that they have blocked port 25 on my IP that is on my ADSL line? I called and asked but seemed like they couldn't understand what i was asking.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure if this helps in any way, but try and find out if there is a secure port available, TTL or some such; or create and use a gmail account to send and receive until you can get it sorted.

i am not sure if this is related but i am with telkom and i seem to remember seeing a port 25 in the settings of my email account and i have not been able to send any emails for the last week or 2.

Is your mail server working off a 'home' ADSL account or is it running through an ISP? I'm guessing it's the former so you might want to check that you don't have what's known as an 'open relay' and have some degree of SMTP authentication. Spammers use open relays to circulate spam. This might be why your ISP would have blocked off port 25 (inbound) , this would prevent you from getting to it through the internet but would allow you to access it at home on the local network.

Ok problem found, they blocked port 25, *********s! Now to wait for it to be unblocked.

LOL, A lot of my clients are having this happen. Sort out the virus`s or stop spamming from your pc and you wont have problems.

Telkom is automatically disabling port25 of people who have infected networks or who are spamming. You are one of those two.
