Guys I have a netgear dg2200m router and I need to setup port forwarding for my cctv please help I can't get it right

where are you based? I can come through and help you out if you are in cape town

how are you accessing the netgear from the outside?
Dyndns?

What is your inside iP range? what ports do you want to forward and do you want to forward to the same ports inside?

I can't access it on my 3g network

useful post that.

How are you planning on accessing the router / servers from the outside world
Have you setup dyndns? Do you know what dyndns is?

Im not sure how technical or non technical to be unless you help us help you.

You need a way to access the outside interface of your netgear. I am guessing you have a bog standard adsl connection. In which case, your IP can and will change. You therefore need a way to access it no matter what. Hence Dynamic DNS.
What this does it periodically send your routers IP to a dyn dns server and update it with your current IP. This then updates a DNS entry which you specify and then can use to access your router.
Something like
thisismyportforward.dyndns.org

Once you have this up and running, you can look at portforwarding.
Step 1 is to be able to access your router from the outside

I can't access it on my 3g network

1) Is the netgear router using 3G or ADSL?

2) If the router is using 3G, I suspect your SIM card is not set to correct APN, nor activated for it

3) Are you MTN or Vodacom? Vodacom you request to be activated on unrestricted APN and set the APN settings to "unrestricted". For MTN, its the same but ask for mtnvpn and then set APN to "mtnvpn".

Hi there,
To access your router fom outside of your network you will have to change settings in the router to do that. Here is the manual for you. Page 82 will show you how to allow that access.
This should also show you how to do the port forwarding.

Good Luck

Tim

I'm using Kguard CCTV equipment, I forward the ports required in my router (Followed portforward.com guide for my router and KGuard). KGuard have thier own simple and free DDNS where you register your name. Downloaded a small app from kguard where it will keep the dynamic ip address up to date.

These are my Rules in my Router:

Services:
NetGear%20Services.jpg

Firewall:
Netgear%20-%20Kguard.jpg

Note that depending on your dvr, you may need to forward both the Web access port (usually 80) and the streaming port (could be almost anything) to the ip address of your dvr
