Is there something I need to know about port forwarding on Afrihost? It's not working. It was working fine with my old provider.
Haven't tested with the supplied HUAWEI router.. currently testing with my old router since it was up and running fine on there all the time.

I contacted support but was told it should work and I must give my router info for help to set it up. I also referred them to look here: https://answers.afrihost.com/22697/is-port-forwarding-remote-desktop-afrihost-fibre-possible but have not had any response.

See screenshot with a simple test (attached).

I just received a response now. Looks like they are taking a look for me. So I suppose this can be disregarded.

OMW, thank you. I was prepared to wait. Thank you so much for always being so helpful.
It's working now. Thank you! :)

Port forwarding is blocked?
Any reason?

Port Forwarding is not blocked.

Connectivity has really taken off since lockdown and because of this it's put a bit of pressure on our IPv4 resources. It was always going to be a problem in the future and it will be a problem for all ISPs in fact.

IPs are expensive and you can't get a lot of them anymore. Not every client needs a public IP so we have rolled out Carrier Grade Nat to help with the shortage.

New devices that connect to our network will get a natted IP address which we remove on request.

Just for my interest. That NAT; would it hamper gaming and private torrents?
Noticed ruTorrent suddenly reporting my ports were blocked.

That's why I'm asking

Should not have any issues at all.

This is more for when you want to remote manage CCTV or access your network externally.

It will not affect speed, gaming, stream or downloads.

Sad state of affairs when customers now are double natted when there is a perfectly good solution for it in IPv6. I guess this is why you eventually entered the IPv6 trial? So do customers now have to ask you to open individual ports for them? Or do you move requesting customers off of the CGNAT?

Our Dev team is working on a button in clientzone to remove the natting.

We will be pushing configs to routers soon to enable IPv6 on most networks.

Opneserve, Vumatel and Vuma Reach excluded for now.
