Port Forwarding on Billion W40

I'm having issues with a new Billion W40 from MWeb.

I've set up my dyndns connection and set the modem to port forward on ports 80 and 431.

On the MWeb network it works perfectly. I can access the Apache Server and see the correct website using the DynDNS alias and the IP.

From other networks, however, there is no connection.

The firewall is disabled.

Is there a trick to this? Is the modem borked?

I'm still having a problem with this.

Basically the port forwarding works fine on the other ports.

I can SSH remotely from home.

The only port which does not forward to my server in port 80.

Can't you then just forward port 81 on your router to port 80 on your home server?

If you really want to host it on port 80 on the web, then it might be better to host the Apache server on a Linux machine where you can dial your Internet connection, use DynDNS and share your Internet connection for other PC's in your home. In this kind of configuration you'll have to put your router in bridge mode.

That makes sense.

I did have a go at this a couple of months back, but couldn't get it working in time: It's a business and I used the weekend to try to set it up, but by Sunday night it still wasn't working correctly so I had to reinstate the original system. Bit of a bummer because I couldn't charge for it and I lost my weekend, so I'm a little reluctant to try again.

As regards forwarding to port 80, I did try redirecting port 8080 to 80 but that failed too.

Point is, it works fine from within the LAN. The LAN computers can access the server through http://mysite.dyndns.org, but I can't access it from home.

I thought it might be a firewall issue, but the firewall is disabled.

If you can connect via SSH to the server, then the port forwarding on the router is working; and the routing table and firewall is OK on the server.

If the Apache server is working from the LAN, and not from the Internet, then its probably just listening on a local IP address and not on 0.0.0.0:80.
If you don't manage to get that working, I'd suggest that you try and run any other service (like FTP) on port 80 and see if you can get the port forwarding on port 80 going.
