I am trying to setup remote access on a home server. The software (Microsoft home server 2011) tell me that my port forwarding is not configures correctly on my router. How do I change it. Using telkom router duo 300 rw. I am out of my depth as it is my first time setting up a home server.

1. setup server network adapter connecting to router to have a static IP.. (NOT DHCP)... to the following settings :

Address : 10.0.0.200
Netmask : 255.255.255.0
Router / Gateway : 10.0.0.2

2. then apply.. disable and enable adapter.

3. Then on router... go to port forwarding section and forward port 80 to 10.0.0.200 port 80... if you have a webserver on your server and the firewall allows... you should be able to access your server from the outside by punching your ip address (google: whats my ip) into your phone's browser (over 3G)....

Hi There,
Stricken's advice should work for you. I tried to get details of how you do this on the router but I have not been able to find documentation that covers it. You should see a screen labelled routing or it might be under virtual machine.

Will continue to look some more for you

Regards

Tim
