Okay, I'm the weakest network n00b out there.
2 weeks ago, eskom shed us and my router went bust as a result. It was still under warranty so I got new one. (pc mall, good service)
Now the problem is, I cannot gain access to certain sites after installing the router that were fine before being shed.
So, I managed to get onto the forums of one such site and I was told to open port 80 in my firewall.
Now as far as I know, all my firewalls are off XP, AVG (no firewall afaik) but perhaps my routers one is on. So I log on to my router and see no firewall option, then on to my adsl modem and voila, I see 'service ports' and the HTTP is port 80. Bingo! I change it to one within the mentioned range, ie. 59998
But it didn't work. Confused
So I changed it back to 80 and even more sites aren't working. Before this site goes offline too, how do I fix this?
Thanks!
Modem - Some Siemens Speedstream I bought at Makro.
Router - Netgear RP614v4
btw, it looks like international is down too and some local as well. This is bad.
