I play lots of games on ADSL and often I get too much disconnection etc.
While other gamers who also plays on ADSL doesn't have this problem at all.
I use MSN and often my words doesn't get transmitted to other user.
This all means that I have packet loss, there is no doubt.
So I phoned telkom and someone told me that ADSL gets port prioritisation,
and HTTP is given more priority than the others.
Thus online gaming, chatting will get you packet loss..
That's what she said... is this true?
But how come other ADSL gamers doesn't have simillar problem.

Somebody please advice is the packet loss problem on my side or is it telkom's side.
I'm really curious about this.. Don't understand why packet loss occurs.

so if my telephone line has problem, packet losses occur or something??
HTTP is fast and ping is not so bad!
but just packet loss.. so telephone line does count??

Lousy performance on non-standard ports, ie: anything other than 80 or 110 it would seem.
I have a couple of sites I work with regularly [daily] and they utilise non-standard ports for dedicated functions. Typically I get lots of timeouts/packet loss [samething to me as far as usefulness is concerned] and those sites are well nigh unusable.
Funny thing is though every now and then for a few hours it is as good as port 80 [as good as it gets] then it goes back to the same old cr_p.
Of course I have reported this to support @ Telkom etc, even escalated to 'Product Marekting' without the courtesy of an acknowledgment and certainly no answers.
Any other experiences out there with non-standard ports in particular.
There has to be something better than this ????
