I bought one of these cooler boxes that plugs into the cigarette lighter to make it work, as 12v DC.
Is there any way to make it work in a hotel room using 220v AC?

You should have got another electrical cable with it that allows it to run off 220V.
If you didn't, you might think of returning to the store where you bought it and asking them about it.

Another option would be to get a 220/12V inverter, and using that.

Its made specifically for camping and travelling.
Why would anyone need a portable cooler in their home which usually has a fridge, is prolly the thinking.
Its the same all over.
