I can't seem to find any info on if you have to register portable solar panels? I just want them in the yard during the day and back inside at night. What are the laws surrounding this?

No laws about what you do with private equipment on private property.

Portable panels are expensive for what it does.

What are you charging?

Oh good. I was worried because I kept seeing articles about fines if you don't register solar panels. But I wasn't sure if it was permanent only or if portable ones were under the same thing.

Are you a COCT or an Eskom direct customer?

Let me rephrase, what are your panels connected to?
Would the law change depending on what I'm connected to?

I suspect you not, otherwise why use portable solar, but if you are connecting your solar to your home and the grid, there may be rules that apply. If not, you can do what you want.

I think maybe these must be smaller overlanding camper panels not in use currently.

I don't see why anyone would buy portable panels for the house

It's not directly powering anything connected to the house

The issue is if you permanently attach them to something (like a roof) and then connect them to the household supply.

If you are charging a portable battery and inverter it should be ok.

Yea, it's not directly powering anything in the house. The reason I am so vague about what it's powering is because if I said what it was powering it would maybe be easy to find a specific social media account I run lol

Oef.... I think that gave it away.

I follow loads of accounts like that on insta

If the system is not connected (directly or indirectly) to the grid in any way, you don't to worry about registering.
