Porting from 8ta to Vodacom issues

My 8ta contract ended on 31 Dec. I put in a cancellation request months before to move to pre-paid on 1 Jan.

Long story short there was a delay/mess-up with the cancellation and 8ta have told me they can only move me onto prepaid on 1 Feb. So I am currently on a month to month basis.

My question is: Can I still port to Vodacom even though my 8ta number is still on a month-to-month contract or do I need to wait until I am on pre-paid??

I would like to port today. Happy to pay for the month with 8ta/fight with them over the charges after the port.

I am actually having a problem with 8ta as well. Contract ended 31st Dec and I was put on pre paid immediately. But this entire day I spent waiting for a authorization Sms and no thing happening. Vodacom consultant called me number of times to enquire if I did receive the Sms and till now I haven't. Went to the nearest vodacom shop and they also tried to port me and no success . Call telkom mobile and no one can seem to tell me what the problem is. Is there anyone who can help.
