Porting from cell c to vodacom

Im on cell c at the moment and the contract is up come 20 Dec 2014
I want to take out a new contract on Vodacom in the next week or two

Once my cell c contract is up and me being converted to pre-paid, can i port this number onto my now 1-2month Vodacom contract?

if yes, whats the process and charges involved in doing this?

No you can't you can only port to a new contract. Also why Vodacom? I am so looking forward to get off them

No, once Vodacom assigns a new Vodacom number to the contract you take out you cant change it to your Cell C number later. Rather wait until you can port. I think VodacomData helped a peep to do what you are thinking of doing, but the stores can do this, neither can I, so unless you want to have drama do it all in one go in December rather.

I can't even port from Cellc to Vodacom, don't know why they don't release my number

As stated, no-one could assist - then VodacomData came along.

I was just past the half way mark on my CellC contract. I took a new contract with VC when the G3 was released because I wanted both the G3 and to get back to VC. CellC is terrible.
I purchased a number I liked off BidorBuy and VodacomData had that number assigned to my VC contract.
End April my CellC contract expired and it has now been converted to prepaid. I am porting this number to VC too, but keeping it prepaid.

Edit: I don't know if you can get CellC to release your contract number. Point was VC do have the ability to assign a new number to an existing contract though.
