I asked about this a while back and somebody did answer, but I can't find that thread anymore (and the rules have probably changed since then).

So, can this be done? I gave Nashua notice on my MTN contract which is supposed to expire in January. I need to go to Vodacom pre-paid because MTN just doesn't have adequate service in my area. Can I keep my MTN number and use it on a Vodacom pre-paid dingus?

TIA

I have been asking the same thing. I was told various things by various ppl, ranging from No to definitely yes.
Vodashop can do it AFAIK. Some of the other service providers only do contracts.
I think the answer is yes, but go through someone like Vodashop.
Might be doing the same thing myself..or going to a contract fee but month to month instead of signing up for 24 months. Have a phone, so don't need theirs, and therefore no reason for a 24 month contract.
