Porting question. Please help

I have a Autopage contract through Vodacom since May 2000. I used to get 20% cash back in my Discovery credit card. That deal stop at the end of Dec 2012. If I port to Vodacom direct or Cell C or any other company is there a minimum period that you have to be with the new company. Read somewhere you have to stay for at least 3 months when you port. Is that true? I cant afford for clients to battle to get hold of me.

You cannot port your number and then port somewhere else and then somewhere else. Yes, there's a minimum waiting period involved. But your phone won't be cut off at any time so your customers should still get hold of you.

I'd suggest thinking carefully WHERE you want to port to first

Sorry my thread might be misleading. I plan to port once only. I am merely trying to find out if there is a minimum waiting period.

You will offline for max 24 hours. My port from Vodacon to Cell C took 8 hours total to activate on the Cell C network. You can also do this on the weekend to minimize impact
