I'd just like to report a successful number porting experience. Although it took a long time (started Friday at about 2pm), my number was successfully ported last night around 6pm. First I got an SMS saying "Welcome to the Vodacom network", then my old phone with my MTN sim card lost reception, switched on my new phone and I was connected to the Vodacom network. I have successfully received a phone call from a MTN, Vodacom, Cell C and Telkom number so I can say that my number port was a 100% success.

Thank you Vodacom for making the process painless :)

I ported from Vodacom to Cell C (I know) and it took close to 2 months to be completed.

You ported from MTN to Vodascum? Are you mad? Why did you do it?

MTN's refusal to release the HTC Touch HD on contract was the biggest driving factor but there were others:
1. Signal has deteriorated at my house over the past few months. I was struggling to keep an EDGE connection going, was missing phone calls, some days I would have no signal at all (this from full 3G signal ~ 6 months ago)
2. MTN dragging their feet with releasing new specials (current ones have been extended at least 3 times)
3. Billing issues, sometimes they would send me an invoice, other times they would "forget"
