Well, there's been some bad experiences and some good ones but I guess good news doesn't sell.

The only bad aspects in the four days I've had my modem were :-

1. Delivery - not bad at 1 day and 6 hours late, but that was because apparently the delivery oaks had "trudy" road instead of "judy", even though Judy was written on the slip I signed when it was delivered - oh those pesky helpdesk support excuses ! :)

2. Trying to connect for about 8 hours and failing to do so

3. Trying to get hold of support on Friday and using about R150 pay as you go airtime - I was told by support on Saturday that Friday was a very bad day in terms of problems.

But all in all, so far, so good - I know some of you will be cursing me in my overall success and some will be muttering "just wait a few more days until your signal bombs out", but heck, I'm happy with the service so far. More than happy - I'm freakin' amazed with the download speeds that match my old work 128k diginet line.

Can it last ?
God knows I hope so.

Kudos to Sentech - you've been helpful through my whole ordering process and delivered on your promise of 10 days from ordering to online !

i applied on the 24th of jan, only got my modem late feb, took me 2 weeks to figure out the problem MYSELF (after spending all my free airtime on support calls) and drove through to Fastcomm themselve who just flashed my bios version which was too old, i think i have the only modem with 4.2.1.6 on, rest is 4.2.1.1 [:p]

after that, and figuring out where all the towers around me was and where to best place my modem etc, I have been connected ever since, i actually have to turn off my PC or else i wont go to sleep at all

oh, and my 120gig hard drive is filling up with nice porn to watch over the weekends, mwhahahahahaha 512k RULES

So far I had one problem, my modem packed up. I phoned Sentech the Monday morning and went to their office and swaped it for a new one. Just keep your box and all the stuff that came with it.

Any idea what issues are fixed between 4.2.1.1 and 4.2.1.6? i.e. should we upgrade the bios? What problems does it solve?
