Hi there,

Hope you guys can provide some information and possible help.

Background info:
We have a home office in CPT which uses the mweb home uncapped premium (4mb) at present and has worked well for our needs of 8 users. Most of the time we use the internet to do browsing, send mails, etc. no torrenting or nntp downloads ;)

Equipment:
Synology DS412+, Draytek Vigor 2710Vn, Backup Server, DDNS through no-ip.org

Present Situation:
We have recently opened a Durban office. We have setup a VPN connection so he can dial into the office and upload and view files on the NAS of where we store our work. I had setup the VPN Server app on the synology and all worked fine until the recent 4.2 update. So switched over to the Draytek Vigor router for its VPN connection. Now i understand that the Mweb 4mb Home Premium ADSL connection is not suitable for business VPN or even VPN for that matter but it does kinda work. But now we are having major issues of not being able to connect certain times of the day, which leads me to believe Mweb have now caught on.

What we would like to do is have a proper and reliable VPN connection for the Durban office so he can connect without issues.

Now obviously the VPN connection is limited to the upload speed and being a 4mb line its only 512kb/s, so browsing the NAS is slow to say the least.

Solutions:
Can any one recommend a decent internet connection to rectify the issues of slow browsing?

1. Have thought of Mweb business ADSL, but its still limited by upload speed.
2. Wireless link with symmetrical speeds.

Anything else?

We have the same issues with VPN on ADSL, no matter what we tried, just too slow for seemless file sharing. We are now looking at 2 possible solitions: Neotel Fibre which is symetric (1mb down, 1mb up) and a local wireless ISP.

We have not intalled any of it yet but they look good on paper. I will get the wireless ISP name and post here.

Just get an Openweb GOLD UNSHAPED account. It's just a couple hundred bucks more and EVERYTHING will just work.

Thanks for the reply. Yes we can stay on ADSL but would prefer something that is slight faster than the stupid telkom upload limit of 512kb/s.

I'm quite loving our Neotel Wimax link at work, rocksolid

You can't go wrong with Neotel Fibre if its available in your area.

Neotel Fibre or even Neotel WiMAx Broadband if available in your area. Both have sufficient upload speeds and is only affordable alternative whn you need that proper stable upload speed.
