Greetings All,

I've run into some hassles with my modem over the past 3 days. I hope that someone could possibly shed some light on it.

When turning on my modem it sometimes just sits with the red light(power) on - no activity/no attempt to register/ NOTHING.

If i then reset it repeatedly - it eventaully comes back to life.

Would this qualify as faulty - if so ... any info on how to go about getting it sorted. I've been trying to phone the helpdesk for 4 hours ... Wonder if there's anyone even on DUTY ! - grrr

No... this is what the new 4.2.1.8 firmware (ProAsm gave us) does.
The red LED simply displays the power on... but without
activating the signal.
With the old 4.2.1.1 firmware.... it automatically activated
the signal.

Thanx dbn...

Initially I thought it had to do with my ethernet cable (seems to have packed up 2day) as the problem was not aparent on the USB cable...

I should have done a more comprehensive test - my brain's a tad fried ;-)

Thanks for your help.

Hmmm... thats the second person who has report that! Strange!
What about that small reset button near the sim card holder.
Any luck using that??

Tried, but no luck, Sentech says must update software because modems battle to work in under 15 degree ceclius, What ****ing **** is software going to do to the modem, warm it up !

Replaced the power unit and all is working now, seems like the power units break under quite often ! this worries me, send one we have had so far !

While at NoWire there were 2 users with the same issue described by Dean...

I think that the firmware upgrading may open up a whole new can of worms for the Ogre Desk...

I had a same problem and I took it to NoWire for exchange and guess what.
They turned it on with my modem and my charger!!
They said it doesn't turn on sometimes if the modem gets cold.
So try to put the modem in warmer place and try to turn it on later.
If it still doesn't work, you can take it to NoWire for exchange.
They regard this as fault, even if it turns on at their place.
