Hi there. Is there any way one can identify someone by their gmail address? A friend is concerned that her daughter might be the target of a sexual predator and he's sending fake pictures from his gmail address.

Just forward the abusive e-mails to [email protected] and they will take it from there.
There is no way for you to find the IP address behind the e-mail as Gmail masks them.
Remember to include the full e-mail including the headers...
Go to "View Source" and copy the full message from there.

If it's the real thing then you need to consider that this guy might be targeting other kids as well. You can block him but he will move on.

They will go in and take a look.
Most likely they will just ban the account for violation.
But if it is serious enough they will alert the authorities.

If it is serious enough, yes.
But if it was just threats, then they will most likely just delete the account.
