Reached your international cap and can't connect to account server to play BF2?

Here is something that works for me, I'm with Openweb and have 30gig local traffic after being capped internationally (well 27 gig, but you know what I mean)

Go to this page
http://www.bf2tracker.com/bf2_downloaddb.php?file=4

What you are downloading is a BF2 protocol which allows you to launch BF2 from a browser.

Next go to:
http://www.game-monitor.com/search.php?ffsearch&qry=sgs&&game=all&country=&showFull=&showEmpty=
This is a site called game-monitor which allows you to view servers info over a webpage and join the game from there (which is why you need the BF2 protocol)

This has worked for me most times (sometimes it's taken more than 45 mins of retrying, figure on at least 10 minutes so some patience is required, but it's worth it), though it may not work for you.

The problem you seem to be trying to solve is : When you're capped, you cannot get a list of servers to join from within BF2.
To circumvent this, you've installed a custom BF2 launcher that works off a website list of BF2 servers.

Okay ... you could just have added the servers you play on to favourites.

But ... thanks for the link to the launcher - much appreciated.
:)

i thought that might work, but to get to my favourites it requires me to log-in with an online account which doesn't work when capped.

This method bypasses that and then lets you get right into the server and them back again to your favourites.. no idea why that should be so..

Like I said though, it's not foolproof (today I'm getting a 'server refuses connection' error :( )

if only IS can open the port, like saix did with old 1942

when I'm capped on IS -like last month, I discovered that while the above solution worked for a few days, I had tested it on a weekend...

Turns out that over the weekend on IS you can login as per normal with BF2, just takes a little longer and maybe one or two retries... After your in, no problems at all..

Will see how it works this month round...
