Possible tax break for solar?

Are there import duties on importing solar things?
Man, I know too little about that, but my general feeling is that with every bit that a supplier or vendor can score, they will.

Let me rather rephrase. Should this result in any saving, I hope it gets passed 100% to the consumer.

I may just put myself in sh*t just to get a tax rebate considering that I end up paying the bastardages every month despite the fact I am retired!

Did you see the Kiers etter begging not to join a tax revolt? It would hurt the most vulnerable lol..

Fukem, like they care about us when they burn and destroy infrastructure that we have to keep replacing..

Explain please. Who eventually pays (eg cannot VAT claim back)?

End users can't claim back vat, otherwise I have over thirty years of pick n pay and checkers grocery recipients that I want to claim back vat on, amongst other stuff bought.

R100 000 solar import.

Customs VAT charged: R16 500
Company claims back: R16 500
Actual VAT paid: 0

Cost to customer: R100 000
VAT: 15 000
Total R115 000

If you want to remove customs VAT:

Customs VAT charged: R0
Company claims back: R0
Actual VAT paid: R0

Cost to customer: R100 000
VAT: 15 000
Total R115 000

Makes no difference if VAT is charged on an import to the end customer, and there are no duties applied to the big ticket items like panels, inverters and batteries.

If you're asking for VAT to be removed from solar that's never ever going to happen. The VAT free list is like 20 items and that's not changing.
