Hi Everyone!

Well im new to the forum, have been looking around for a new ISP and found your forum. Well here is my story, I've had my DSL line through telkom a while now along with my bandwidth from a sperate ISP. After reading around I have come to the conclusion that telkom is ripping me off again. My line is a 512kb's one at home and im getting billed just over R400 for it? Can you guys please tell me if this is the correct price?

Thx

R326 for the 512kbps line + R111 Line Rental + ISP costs.

But yes, you are getting ripped off, pay an extra R80 and upgrade to a 4mbit line and get 8x the speed

Thank you 'boramk' wish I had known sooner will try and get telkom to upgrade my line end of this month. I'm thinking of going with "openweb" as a ISP with a SIAX 5Gb Package? Any Suggestions? I use a lot of torrents, download music series ect. but the 3Gb as you can figure is just not cutting it.

Yeah, about that? WTF do you use that ****load of local bandwidth for? Is there local servers to download from? If so where? I read the topic on local torrents but they don't sound promising at all? And Newshost.za.net? Would appreciate if you guys could help out im kinda looking for some solution to spending a mere 3Gb on the first 15days of the month and then having to sit capped. Currently I have a 3Gb Int. only account from a ISP called preferred.

There is a 10Gb Local option too... and for R70 ..it is worth it. One thing to remember, as soon as you upgrade to 4mb line, you WILL find stuff to download.
I have a 382kb line, and I am using between 30 & 40GB monthly. I can assue you, if I had a 4mb line...this would probably not be enough... and this is without downloading p0rn:)

Never thought I'd say this ... consider Telkom ISP 3gig gives you 5.5 gig due to user average - and they have free local atm after cap of course

Yes, you dont need newshost to download from the news server... you can get the nzb's from a international website.

**Update**
Got my line upgraded today, the not too bad looking girl at the counter said activation of my 4mb/s line will take about two weeks.

Now its on to my ISP I wanted to go with the SIAX 5gb int. package from openweb here > http://www.openweb.co.za/saix_adsl.php But read around the forum people complain alot about openweb.. is there any other similar packages around you guys would rather suggest?
