Possible upcoming attempts to disable the Tor network

Its a browser that links to the tor network, I went to a search engine and all that came up were illegal things mostly porn and a ton of child porn, I removed it and formatted my drive was disgusted. There was even baby crap on there

Sick and disgusting

Isn't formatting you drive over search history a bit over-kill?

It is the only way to be sure you got rid of the filth....

But for what and for whom?

Oh, ok ...

... if you told me, I'd expect it would nullify the reason for the TOR network's existence.

You learn fast :)

(PS There is more to it than child porn guys)

Why does the TOR network still exist, except for the use of Chinese citizens to download Western propaganda (because the Chinese government are only tolerate their own propaganda)?
Because of governments.

If Tor was made by USA government (and supported by them), how it come that it's secure?
Sounds like a huge honeypot to me.
I'm not sure if I understand correctly what you're implying but it's the reason it's secure. It was made for use by the government. However it was pointed out that if they were the only ones using it the traffic would be known to come from them. They released it to the public to make themselves blend in.

My actual point is that I thought that the TOR network only exist for the perpetuation of illegal activities ... except for the citizens of the People's Republic of China who's activities toward free speech is off the Western perspective of illegal activities.

Its being used a lot by oppressed citizens in other countries in order to get the word out/rally etc. Its not just used for illegal activities.

Why would anyone want to hide themselves? Unless perhaps for illegal activities. I don't think any gvt agency cares about what we do unless it's perhaps very bad

ok, work with me here. The state suddenly becomes uber paranoid and take a swipe at terrorists. You happen to have mentioned how mad you are at the government a while ago and want to blow them up. Even if it was said out of frustration and you didnt really mean it, they land up on your doorstep and throw you in jail and/or execute you.

do you think your cyber private life is secure? would you be willing to dump all your cyber info for us to read? Do you have anything to hide?

I wonder who the "we" are that Flojo is talking of. Tor is supposed to be decentralised.

I get what you are saying, its a slippery slope we are on

I have used TOR before out of curiosity after I heard about "The Deep Web" on an article.
I never came across any child porn - Just like the regular web you would have to be actively looking for it, it doesn't just "pop-up" by itself.
So excuse me if I'm a little skeptical of your post. You're the one clicking on links, it doesn't click perverted pictures for you.

I saw a few links to chans/boards or whatever, and websites that look like they were designed in the 90's.
It's also very slow to use.

It depends on the gateway you end up on but yes things are usually categorised so you have to follow the trail to get to it.

Yea ... Child porn etc has to be searched for it doesn't just happen ey.

Mmmm... I'm not a Tor expert so I won't argue with you, just in my daily experience using tor it just seemed "unusual"
