So...do you have a certain way of making it or certains things that you add that most people dont? Here are the variations that I have had or that my mom used to make sometiems.

1. With Bacon
2. With mustard powder added into the mayo
3. With Gherkin
4. With condense milk added into the mayo mix (just a little bit and it gives a taste that will blows your socks off!....salavating now just thinking of it!!!!)

So...what variations have you made and liked???

Oh...and onion is not a additive...it is a standard ingredient in potato salad. :p

All glory to the potato !!!
Potato, I love you just as you are, no additives needed if cooked just right with regards to texture.
Just 2 weeks ago I had one big potato as my main meal.

But I am taking notes of your recipes...:)

Peas could be nice also I think. mmmm I wonder what canned pine apple would taste like in a potato salad? Maybe just make very very sure you get all the juices out of the pieces. Could be interesting.

been throwing garlic powder into mashed potatoes and potato salad. it be the bomb bru!:D

What annoys me is, you see hmmm nice potato salad and it has more eggs in than potatoes.

Do you put garlic on everything you put in your mouth? :p

I don't like it that every thread which Ockie posts in somehow turns sexual. I don't want to read sexual innuendos in every bloody thread he posts in. I don't know whether it is you (Ockie) who instigates it or other members, but personally it's getting a bit tiresome.

Ockie,

Do you perhaps know the ration of mayo to condensedmilk for the potato salad? A friend of mine used to make it but she has moved away, and I never got the chance to ask her how she makes it. It really is delicious! I know however it was with mayo, condensedmilk, and a tiny bit of mustard. If you can post the recipe I would appreciate it :)

Thank you!!

I actually like egg in potato salad. Other things I like adding is crispy bacon, diced onion, celery.

One salad to rule them all:

Boil the taters and skin them with a knife while still hot. Cut them into 1cm slices and put a layer of this in the bottom of a bowl some 5cm thick. Pour over a mixture of oil, vinegar, salt, pepper and chopped onions and let it soak into the potato while still warm.

Repeat until you run out of potato, cover with a cloth and let stand over-night (it improves further with time)

That is a traditional German potato salad (no mayo)

I love adding mayo (anything other than Nola; Kraft Salad Cream or Woolies Tangy are good) with a touch of mustard powder and gherkins ("Küche Eggers" if you can get them and not eat them all up before they land in the salad). Ham/bacon is optional, but not required, especially if you serve pork as the meat where I'd suggest pork neck baked with dried apricot, kassler or viennas (Enterprize, Woolies and the rest need not apply, get them from a German butcher and serve with mustard)

Seriously Pooky...I find you rather tiresome. Where did you read anything sexual that I posted in this thread. If you read it that way that is your problem. If you dont like reading my posts...then dont read them!

Go play with your camera and make a youtube about toothpaste or shrooms or whatever goes on in that head of yours.
